What to know about the bike stem?

The bike stem is the segment on a bicycle that attaches the handlebars to the steerer tube of the bicycle junction. Sometimes called a gooseneck. The design of a bike stem refers to either a quill or threadless system, and each arrangement is cooperative with several headsets and fork forms.

Designs of Bike Stem

Quill: the stem insertions into the steerer tube, which is threaded and does not elongate over the headset.
Threadless: the stem fasteners around the steerer tube, which is not threaded and elongates over the headset.

Mountain Bike Stem

A mountain bike stem attaches the handlebars to the fork steerer. They arrive in various lengths and distinct rises, enabling you to tune your cockpit position. Mountain bike stems are usually below 70mm in length, with 40mm and 50mm being the most conventional measures.

Road Bike Stem

A shorter road bike stem provides the bike with swiffer handling features and a more active feel. A longer road bike stem turns your body weight towards the head of the bike and sets you in a more upright pedaling posture, particularly on long rides. To put a figure to it, the long stem is 100 120mm, very long stems are 130mm or more, and any stem less than 90mm can be regarded as a short stem.

Adjustable Bike Stem

Adjustable bike stem is a helpful way of squeezing your handlebar extent and approach, especially for touring where you consume extended times in the saddle. Adjustable bike stem made in advanced 6061 T 6 aluminum is best. To buy an adjustable bike stem visit these brands Specialized, Zipp, XLC, Cinelli.
