BIOMAP

BioMap by Northwave is the result of a careful analysis carried out in order to understand how the body functions during physical activity and what its specific needs are. The sole, the upper and every single component are anatomically compatible with every cyclist´s foot and have been designed to keep the foot in the correct position while pedalling,so the cyclist´s force is transmitted directly to the pedals without wasting energy.

RACE CONSTRUCTION

The new Race Construction enables the upper to adapt to any shape of instep, even very narrow insteps. The independent tongue slides over the two side shells, perfectly binding the foot.

WEB POWER CAGE

Evolution of the Web Power Cage structure has cut the overinjected parts to a minimum and has introduced significant technical solutions to increase comford and reduce the weight. A big mesh surface and the -no overinjected parts-construction let the shoe adapts to the feet shape, that during physical exertion, increasing the volume for the blood flow. Moreover, to guarantee more comfort, the upper is made of a lightweight, stretch, breathable and abrasion-resistant microfiber.

VENTILATION

NW shoes offer the best aeration possible. Increased comfort is a direct result of our strategically placed vents. Acting as air conductors, these vents allow your feet to breathe properly, which dramatically reduces sweat and swelling. Our Aerator System provides constant aeration throughout the entire shoe. The large front vent forms toe protection, while routing air inside the upper part of the shoe. Low side vents allow fresh air to go inside the carbon sole´s plate area where most of the heat is generally formed. At the back of the shoe, a special air extractor lets warm air flow out, minimizing heat and increasing comfort. Larger lateral vents were designed with soft mesh to guarantee constant airflow.

WOOD:

The new thermoformed wooden arch support for assembly WLI - Wood Lasting Insole represent the most important innovation in the new shoes collection with carbon soles.
The wood features high performances:
. The layers of wood are treated with special bonding agents to protect the foot from external agents like water or perspiration
. The structure is broken down into two sections: a more flexible part that adapts to the shape of the foot, and a stiffer core to make power transmission more effective.
. WLI helps dampen the vibrations transmitted by the pedal and isolates the foot from any possible overheating of the sole. The wood with which the arch support is made is an assurance of a technical product absolutely compatible with the foot´s anatomy and is the result of the new BioMap concept

A new, lightweight and anatomical arch support that offers the perfect level of stiffness to transmit full power to the pedals, without any loss of energy.

CARBON

Stiff and Thin: two features that make Northwave soles stand out. The road ST - Stiff and Thin soles features these two important, thanks to the large collection of soles for every cyclist´s individual needs are satisfied. ST soles are equipped with the Lateral Canting adjustment system so that the plate can be moved laterally and be positioned correctly. The ST 10:4 sole, made with 5 layers of carbon, is characterised by the special Air Flow System with front conveyor and ventilation channel next to the pedal engagement. New interchangeable rear protective heels.

ST SOLE-STIFF AND THIN

Stiff and Thin: these are the features that make Northwave soles stand out. A different stiffness to thickness ratio corresponds to every single sole, so that every cyclist´s individual needs are satisfied.

ST 8:4 - 3-layer Full Carbon sole

Minimum thickness and high degree of stiffness, thanks to the three layers of carbon provide excellent stiffness. Equipped with the Air Flow System and interchangeable rear heel. Designed for use in competition, it guarantees perfect transmission of power to the pedals.

HEEL RETENTION

A special heel counter made of injected plastic is used on all northwave footwear. It stabilizes the heel, increases the foot´s lateral grip, and prevents the shoe from slipping off.

ULTRA Y HEEL COUNTER

A special heel counter made of injected plastic. The special y shape embraces the heel comfortably and holds it in its natural position, while the minimal desing reduce the weight.
