Things to Know About Bike Lights

In order to ride safely on unknown and uneven terrains and trails in the dark, you need to equip your bike with the right lighting system. To ensure visibility to pedestrians and motorists, a bike should be lit up with the front, rear and sidelights. Especially on terrains where the ambient light source is not available, your bike should have front head bike lights or a high output lighting system so that you can see well ahead of you.

High Output Light System

These road bike lights provide maximum illumination in the dark and they are usually rechargeable. High output light systems are more expensive than safety lights but they are much brighter and help you see the terrains in all conditions. Garmin, Specialized, Brooks England, POC, and Thule are the best manufacturers of bike lights.

Front, Back, and Side Safety Lights

In dim light conditions, these urban bike lights help motorists see you. These lights are useful in the daytime as well but they are not ideal for dark night riding. The main differences between safety lights and other lights are their mounting options, whether they use disposable or rechargeable batteries, and the number of light emitting diodes or bike led lights. For a long distance mountain biking adventure, we recommend you use a rechargeable mountain bike lights system. They use lithium ion batteries that can be charged multiple times; making them a cost effective and environmentally sound option as opposed to disposable batteries.
