La membrana è in PTFE (politetrafluoroetilene), un polimero molto versatile, espanso in modo da creare una struttura microporosa. I micropori risultanti da questa espansione sono 900 volte più grandi delle molecole del vapore acqueo e consentono quindi al sudore di fuoriscire facilmente.
