The Scorpion™ MTB Mixed Terrain is a mountain-bike tyre designed for mixed terrain, where the surface is a mix of compact and unstable terrain and all intermediate types. The tread consists of knobs with average height and spacing to guarantee excellent performance on a wide range of terrains.
The use of the special SmartGRIP Compound guarantees an elevated adaptability and at the same time resistance to tearing, offering elevated grip in all weather conditions, be they dry or wet: the best ally for your performance off-road
Protection
- 2.2 LITE: rip-resistant rubber compound offering elevated mechanical resistance to reduce cutting and at the same time guarantee elevated performance
- 2.4 LITE: rip-resistant rubber compound with 120 tpi reinforcement of the sides to offer greater protection against puncturing and cutting without sacrificing performance
Grip:
- the SmartGRIP rubber compound guarantees elevated grip on wet surfaces; weather is no longer an issue, no sacrificing grip for dry or wet conditions

Difficult installation on Mavic allroad sl wheels. A little leak over time at the same time I have never had a 100% waterproof tubeless assembly. On the road very good performance for me. On a rolling track the same. On a chaotic path, very good grip uphill, I was unable to get it to stall even with wet sections. Downhill on this same type of terrain, even steep, very reassuring with once again very good grip. He only landed once in furniture but quickly got back on track without me having to do anything. I specify that I ride tubeless 1.7b at the front and 1.8b at the rear. Overall very happy with these tires. It remains to be seen the resistance to puncture and the duration over time.

I think this is a great tire. At least in the sense that it is exactly as the manufacturer presents it. The pattern really allows for riding on mixed surfaces: It rolls well on dry and dusty dirt, grips and steers very well on stony trails, and holds and brakes well on grass. I haven't tried downright wet and muddy conditions yet, but it's not even primarily designed for those. You can clearly feel the stiff side with the tire protection - you need to try the correct pressure (at the same pressure as with regular light tubeless tires, this one is significantly stiffer). After 200 km of racing, there are no signs of use on the tires. The pressure has remained the same since the first installation and there was no need to inflate them at all.

Is this tire more suitable than the XC RC for use on the front?

I chose this tire as the same for front and rear wheel and for aggressive XC use in mixed terrain. The tire fully met all these requirements. I think the RC version is lighter, faster in rolling and with a slight limitation in the wet...
