I assembled this pedalboard with a 9V cassette and it works well. The old 9v one didn´t have plastic protection and was always stinging my legs. The issue of compatibility has to do with the width of the chain and the distance between plates. If the chain is narrower than the gap between plates, there is a risk of the chain falling between the plates. The more speeds you have, the thinner the chain and therefore the gap between the cranksets will have to be smaller for more speeds. In practical terms, the distance between the plates of an 8v and a 9v pedalboard is the same, (and I actually measured both) so there will be no problems in terms of current. As for the axle, I had to assemble a new one because the old one was short, but the Shimano tables show the compatible models. Measurement 68 or 73 only has to do with the frame. The crankset depends on the axle size (110, 115, 122). This measurement defines the distance at which the crankset is from the center of the axle. It´s okay if it´s more than necessary, it can´t be less than recommended in the tables.

Montei esta pedaleira com uma cassete de 9V e funciona bem. A antiga de 9v não tinha protecção de plástico e estava sempre a picar as pernas. A questão da compatibilidade tem a ver com a largura da corrente e a distância entre pratos. Se a corrente for mais estreita do que a folga entre pratos corre-se o risco da corrente cair entre os ditos. Quantas mais velocidades mais fina é a corrente e por isso a folga entre pratos da pedaleira terá de ser menor para mais velocidades. Em termos práticos, a distância entre pratos de uma pedaleira de 8v e uma de 9v é a mesma, (e medi efectivamente as duas) pelo que não haverá problemas ao nivel da corrente. Quanto ao eixo tive de montar um novo porque o antigo era curto mas as tabelas da shimano mostram os modelos compativeis. A medida 68 ou 73 tem apenas a ver com quadro. A pedaleira depende da medida do eixo (110, 115, 122). Esta medida define a distância a que a pedaleira fica do centro do eixo. Não tem problema se for mais do que o necessário, não pode é ser inferior ao recomendado nas tabelas.

Hello, I have this crankset with a 123 mm square bottom bracket. My bottom bracket width is 68mm, there are also 73mm. So there are two variants for 123mm: 68mm or 73mm. If you say your bottom bracket has 8 notches, you may be referring to Shimano Octalink, which only works for Shimano Octalink cranks. I hope the answer helps you.

Hola, yo tengo este juego de bielas con eje de pedalier cuadradillo de 123 mm. Mi ancho de caja de pedalier es de 68mm, también hay de 73mm. Entonces hay dos variantes para 123mm: 68mm o 73mm. Si dices que tu eje de pedalier tiene 8 muescas, puede ser que te refieras a Shimano Octalink, que solo sirve para las bielas Shimano Octalink. Espero que te sirva la respuesta.
