At the beginning of the year I upgraded my gravel's brakes and drivetrain to Shimano GRX, it came from SRAM Apex single chainring. They installed a GRX-810 derailleur at the store, but lately I was having trouble engaging 11-42. By switching to GRX-812, this problem has disappeared. Very happy with the update.

Have Shimano on all my bikes. Decided to go with the new GRX on my gravel bike. Not a lot different than an XT derailleur. I am running the 2x10 GRX crankset with the GRX 2x11 front and rear derailleur and everything is working fine. I am also running a 42t rear XT cassette with no issues. Not sure I could run a bigger cassette unless I got a longer b screw. As it is now I have about 5 or 6 mm between the 43t cog and the derailleur jockey.

got this as part of my grx drive train upgrade on my gravel bike. i have the grx double crankset and the 32t option is the one you would need. it's the rd810. with the clutch! i did consider getting the rd800 but on shimano's site it lists the 800 compatible with the single ring set up. in case i went down that route. but it's shift geometry would be different as it supports a 42t low gear. i stuck with what shimano lists on their site for my 2x 11sp set up on my gravel bike. i was used to the 2x 105 setup that i currently have and prefer the ability to find a gear i can spin in. i have tried 1x and like the the simplicity. i have that on my mtb. but for road/off-road less technical terrain a 2x gives me more flexibility. also chain line is less severe with the 2x. a 30-32 gear will be better than a 42-42 on the single having ,a 46-11 high gear will be good for my riding capability. it came in all original shimano grx packaging.

Good afternoon, I have a Focus Atlas 8.8 with a double chainring and a GRX RD-810 11sp rear derailleur with a 105 R7000 cassette between 11 and 34 teeth. I would like to know if I can change the 34T sprocket and install a 36T one. Thank you

It works anyway. Once assembled, adjust the B screw well. I have it working on a 40T but I changed the dropout. It´s a solid gearbox, if you adjust it well it won´t give you problems

First of all thanks to Wing Fai for answering my previous question. I understand that the decision to integrate the GRX is compatible with the levers, front derailleur and crankset of my current bike, equipped with the ULTEGRA 6800 system. Correct? And in this case, would it make sense to update the rear sprocket set as well, replacing one, still with 11 speeds, with a more versatile one, i.e. with a greater excursion between the minimum and maximum speeds, or with different teeth?

Compared to the r8000 gs derailleur, the GRX 810 is able to handle a larger cassette 11-36 is possible. The r8000 can go up to 11-34. The GRX derailleur I believe is with a minimum cassette of 11-28. The biggest advantage of the GRX derailleur is that it has a clutch. This allows the chain to chatter less on difficult terrain. This improves shifting performance. The ultegra 6800 rear derailleur is capable of shifting up to an 11-32. When it comes to the go variant. By choosing a GRX 810 derailleur, you can therefore mount an 11-34 or 11-36 and also take advantage of the clutch on difficult terrain

Greetings! I have a Specialized Diverge bike fitted with an ULTEGRA 6800. I do a lot of off roading and they recommended swapping the rear derailleur for a GRX 810. Can I do this, without swapping the front derailleur and shifters? It´s compatible? Thank you

There is NO compatibility problem, it only has to coincide in the number of speeds, which are both 11 v. (lever and gear), you also have to check that the GRX model to choose fits your big sprocket. I made the change and it worked the first time,

Hi, according to Shimano, GRX RD-RX810 11-speed rear derailleur has a total capacity of up to 40T. Your existing Ultegra double chain-rings are 48T/32T, i.e. a difference of 16T. Your current Ultegra 11-32T cassette has a difference of 21T. The total capacity of your current drive-train is 37T that is within the design of the RD-RX810. On the other hand, RD-RX-810 can work with 11T top sprocket and 34T lowest sprocket (but not less than 30T) of a cassette. Your current cassette is 11-32T that is well within the limit of RD-RX810. What I can see the benefit of using GRX RD-RX810 in your case is its clutch system that can maintain the tension of your chain better. Before the introduction of GRX by Shimano, you may like to know that an old model of Ultegra RD-RX8000-GS also has chain stablilizer. My former Specialized Roubaix Comp-Sagan Collection Underexposed Edition was having ,such version of RD on the bike.

Hello, I am building a GRX 2x11 groupset with FC-RX810-2 crankset and am therefore looking for a GRX RD-RX810 rear derailleur. I did not understand if selecting the number of teeth, ´´max32, max42 ", you can then choose between the RD-RX810 model for double (which would have 34 teeth as a maximum and not 32) or the RD-RX812 for single. words by selecting max 32t gray do you buy a RD-RX810?

The difference between the 42t model and the 34t model would be that the 42t is the long cage model and the 34t is the short cage model. I have the RD-RX812 in the long cage 42t for a 1x setup.

The choice between RX810 and RX812 is a 2X or 1X setup. These two RD have their own set of specifications that cannot be mixed. RX810 can accept up to a difference of 17T for GRX front chainring setup (i.e. 2X). The lowest cog can take up to 34T (max) or at least a 30T. The Total Capacity (i.e. the differences of the front chainrings plus the difference of the rear sprockets) is bigger than R7000/8000/9000 RDs. On the other hand, RX812 is designed for single front chainring setup (1X). It can accept up to a max cog size of 42T for the cassette or at least 40T for the lowest cog .
