There are few 7 speed cassette options on Shimano. This is a hyperglide, chrome colored and with lots of holes to lighten the weight. It seems a good product and for my use a good choice of the development of sprockets 11-28.

Is the cassette compatible with a shimano Exage 400EX (road bike)?

I´m not sure, but personally I mounted it on an EXAGE LX300 from the 90s which basically manages a pinion no smaller than 12 and this one has an 11 size and I have no problems. In itself the cassette has very small sprockets, it is more than for a MTB it seems for a City or BDC. is your derailleur short cage, if I´m not mistaken? I would try it, as a cassette I am fine.

Officially the Exage rear derailleur only takes sprockets from 12 and up. There seem to be some work arounds with shims or exchanging sprockets. So it could be done, but not out of the box.
