Those connecting rods are for a square drive, they have an entry hole in both the left and right connecting rods, it´s just that I haven´t quite understood what you mean.

Hi, I was in your same situation and I replaced it with this one. It works perfectly but you will have to pull the derailleur up about 4 cm otherwise it will slam. I´ve been using it for 3 weeks and it´s going great, gaining 5 kmh on the flat.

This kit is the one I got for my hybrid. It is a standard square drive ( rhombus , as you say ) , you will need the typical extractor to remove the connecting rod / chainrings assembly . Take a plastic protector from the big chainring and I advise you to disassemble it before, there are 3 screws, you will save yourself problems.
