You put your feet in these. Once the foot is in, you move your legs up and down. The bike should go forward. Super stable, amazing clicks in and out. I use these EVERY time I'm on a bike. Love it. A bit heavy, just like my feelings.

I wanted an SPD pedal with a bigger platform to spread pedaling pressure across a broader area than just the ball of the foot - this pedal does this perfectly. Also the pedal is two-sided, so no time wasted flipping the pedal before you can clip in. Clipping in and out of the pedal is easy, but there are no unintended disconnects.

I've ridden Shimano XT SPD pedals before without the platform. They went on perfectly and simple to adjust. I like my binding clips fairly loose so I can get out quickly. I like them simply because they're pretty much a standard.

I have only had one trail ride on these but love them so far. I replaced some older, heavier, M424s that I rode for years. I like these better. I still get the cage support but with a less bulky form factor. The clip in and out action really feels great.
