At the front for good directional grip and at the rear for good engine grip. This is preferably for oily and slippery terrain. Plus tires for fall and winter. On the other hand, you can mismatch them according to your needs. To hold up the climbs (which I did) you put it at the back for traction and a lighter one at the front with side crampons (at the edge). It´s up to you to see and test depending on the terrain, the weather and your technique.

I have them on both wheels and they work perfectly on dry terrain.

Of course you can, but you will not have the same benefits as with a specific cover for the front wheel.
