Galfer Bike launches its innovative fixed version of the Disc Shark®, the most complete MTB brake disc available today. Its innovative manufacturing process uses laser cutting to create the optimal design geometry and achieve the best possible performance.
In 2021 Galfer Bike started to develop the prototype of its new brake disc for “gravity” disciplines (DH/Enduro), which was used by the riders of the UCI DH Commencal Muc-Off team last season. This disc, together with Galfer Pro brake pads, helped Myriam Nicole win the World Championship, and brought several World Cup victories and podiums for Amaury Pierron and Thibaut Dapréla.
Thanks to Galfer’s R+D+i department, with the collaboration of Martin Maes (Orbea Fox Enduro Team) and Alex Marin (IJ Racing), among others, the 2022 disc has evolved and improved considerably. Galfer Bike now launches its new Disc Shark® for the most demanding “gravity” DH and Enduro riders. In a second phase they will also be available for Cross-Country disciplines.
One of the disc’s unique characteristics is the inner fin that gives it its name: Disc Shark®. These fins, together with the rotor’s small internal round holes allow the operating temperature of the disc to be reduced, while the rotor’s exterior Wave design and lateral openings give it a powerful and homogeneous grip over the full contact area of the brake pad.
Its main features are:
- Greater Braking Power: the Disc Shark®’s design means that less pressure is required in the brake line under the most fatiguing conditions, meaning less effort is required to brake. This translates into a 5-10% increase in braking power under normal conditions.
- More Stability: even in the least favourable conditions in terms of temperature (steep gradients, high speeds, high ambient temperature and large mass), the Disc Shark® maintains stable and consistent behaviour at all times. Its structural design adapts to the different disc diameters to achieve adequate stiffness for each model.
- Lower Operating Temperature: the Disc Shark® drastically reduces the operating temperature – a 30% reduction compared to other high-end discs currently on the market – and is manufactured as one piece for greater strength.
- Longer Brake Pad Life: under normal conditions brake pad life is increased by 25-40% with Disc Shark®.
- Lighter Disc: the Disc Shark® is lighter than most other high-end brake discs on the market thanks to the optimised design of both the rotor and the hub.

On the first route with good downhill trails and once he adapted to the pads, the truth is that I was amazed by the feel they gave. Very progressive, dosable braking and I would say more powerful. With respect to the Sram Centerline there is a lot of difference and with respect to the 2.0 mm Galfer Wave there is also a difference, although not as much, but there is some. Tested with purple Galfer pickups. Weight verified by me is 182 g for the 203 and 248 g for the 223. The 203 wave weighs 153 g to give you an idea.

At 2mm, the discs are thick enough to run quietly and without distortion. The cooling is also excellent. Not as aggressive as the Wave due to the different holes, but also not worse in performance, but much easier to dose.

After riding 3 years with Magura Mdr floating time to test something new.
The Magura disc are great but the play of the floating disc is a little to much, so due I already ride with Galfer brake pads purple I tried the new Galfer disc.
And YES great disc even I think you can go a size smaller for the same brake power, great heat discipation and straight out of the box not like Shimano Ice tech.
Don´t forget design and made in EU also, more labor and less transport oversees.

I used the Galfer Postmount Adapter 43 mm for my Sram Code RSC front brake on a fox 36 factory fork, so I could upgrade to the Galfer 223mm shark disc. Fit was perfect straight out of the box. The thicker disc was no issue. Brake bite is awesome. Shipping to NZ took 21 days

Just bought a new turbo levo and on my other one I have the same brakes and really like the breaking power so I wanted to put the same brakes that I have on my other turbo levó on my new bike also which is a turbo Levó! Hi, personally I mounted these discs on my MONDRAKKER LEVEL R from the first km, replacing them with the original discs, coupling them with the purple GALFER pads (special compound for e-mtb). I´ve traveled about 600 km up to now and I´ve found myself very well, both in dry conditions and in wet or muddy situations. For me, great product.

Hello, The holes are indeed holes for a standard 6-hole “IS” fixing for fixing on a Centerlock system, you must provide a “centerlock” adapter. The Galfer Sharks are great discs.
