I got this especially for pedals and wheel thru-axle lubrication. The tube is solid closed upon arrival, so it ensures you get a fresh product (not dry). On first use you have to puncture the outlet of the tube so compound can start flowing. Tight cap ensures proper closing. I don't see any shelf life indication on the tube, meaning this product should last for years if stored properly.

I bought it especially for threaded bottom bracket cups and pedals. It allows applying with a sufficient tightening torque, without the thread moving, and in turn allows it to be released without problems. I recommend it.
