This chain checker is excellent. Instead of 0.75 and 1.0 wear, you measure 0.5 and 0.75 wear. You replace the chain between 0.5 and 0.75, so you almost never have to replace a cassette! At 0.75 wear you are actually already too late!

It is essential to use this 3-point Park Tool CC-4 Chain Checker, instead of cheaper 2-point chain checkers. Only with a 3-point chain checker you only measure the wear of the pins, and therefore the stretching of the chain. You can also measure the wear of the rollers with a 2-point chain checker. As a result, you actually measure too much wear, which means that you replace the chain earlier than necessary. The wear of the rollers does not contribute to the wear of your gears, and is therefore not important. Only the wear of the pins increases the distance between the links, causing your gears to wear out. With the third pin of this chain checker you press the measuring pins on both sides against the same side of the roller, so that you only measure the wear of the pins. Highly recommended!

Hello, my question is whether the park tool cc4 chain wear tester is suitable for 12v sram axs flattop chains and also for 12v shimano chains? Does it work for the 2 shimano and sram 12v models? Thank you

Absolutely, I personally use the 11s, but the 12s differ in the width of the links, not the length, so you can safely use them

I am using it for SRAM AXS Flattop and works fine, according to the official product description it works on any 12 speed chain. To measure properly it is important to make chain tight by pulling up two fingers while checking wear with the other hand.
