At least you have to put it in Covers of 40, but leave 40 real or more, because otherwise it will be very difficult to install it

Great question. I use the XXS (the smallest of these PTN green gravel inserts). They are in a 38 tire and a 21mm internal width rim. They are perfect for this combination. However, I recently have been experimenting with larger tires (i.e., all the way up to 50 mm tires) and have stayed with this same insert. It is still the optimal size. I´m seeing the insert is best when it provides ´cover´ for the rim. Too much more coverage and the tire starts to feels solid. That is, the air in the tire doesn´t compress properly if the insert is too big. If I were in your shoes (again), I would buy the 33 - 38mm XXS size. Bottom Line: yes, they are worth it.
