The Monarch is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Its lightweight design not only delivers silky smooth travel, but thanks to a redesigned Solo Air spring with updated damping controls, it also delivers a spring rate you’d generally only get from a much heavier coil shock. So you get a durable, fully adjustable shock capable of smoothing out the most aggressive trails, while simultaneously saving you weight for epic cross country riding. In other words, the perfect balance of performance and efficiency. So don’t be fooled by its appearance. Like the wolf, its packaging doesn’t always reveal what’s inside.

I believe that this type of shock absorber was mounted until 2018. On my 2017 Stumpjumper it solved a project change problem from the following year.

The shock absorber I replaced had different graphics than the original but structurally compatible. Having Stumpjumper 2017 I needed to have that particular stem without eyelet and of course the correct size of the stem. I knew that even in 2018 this project remained. Mounted on Stumpjumper 2017, it replaces the original locking totally partially and not at all depending on the lever position. I consider the lockout only necessary on asphalt and not on trails.

This shock absorber is made with a particular insert in the lower part and was produced until around 2018. It has a cubic graft and not the classic hole, which is only present at the top. So I would say yes.
