Bought to fit an 11-36 cassette on my gravel wheelset. Nickel compatibility! Second pair of wheels for the road in 11-30. RAS Changing wheels doesn't even require adjusting the derailleur. Shifting just a bit slower than on the short chappe utlegra, but without consequences

I went with this for running a 11-42T cassettes with 30-46T Absolute Black chainrings. Although this give a range of 47T and the derailleur is only rated for 39T - IT WORKS! On 11-30, there's not much tension, (if any!), and on 42-46T it's almost maxed out, but you shouldn't be riding this gears anyway. but at least if I do, I know that it will cope. Clutch mechanism is great for eliminating chain slap off road and the shifting is smoooooth. I'm using this on a Trek Checkpoint ALR5 with 105 hydraulic brake shifters. I had to use nearly all of the thread on the 'B-screw', but I got the gearing that I wanted. Great rear mech - Recommended.
Can't stand clutch-less for off road riding.

I managed to withstand 2 rides on singletrack with my gravel bike before I HAD to upgrade to a RD with a clutch. Ride quality improves SO much just knowing that the chain isn't bouncing around like crazy and hitting the chain stays. Prefer Shimano's clutch system as you can always turn it off if you need to.

This mech was my first foray into some what high end Shimano groups and all i can say is its amazing. Shifting feels buttery smooth and the clutch makes my daily commutes that are usually filled with potholes and curb jumping to a blissfully silent roll. 10/10 would buy again

I'm a fan of the Ultegra series. Excellent value for money. With the 105 series update they got closer in performance. I bought because of the clutch system equal to the MTB changes, I used on very bad roads and smooth tracks and it worked very well, the chain became more intentional and did not hit much in the frame. Shimano says it's only good for up to 34-tooth cassettes, but it's definitely up to 36 or maybe more. Perfect for gravel or cyclocross.
