Shimano XC9 MTB Shoes

Whether you are a XC racer or a regular XC rider, you will gain an edge from SHIMANO’s new XC90 shoes. Designed to meet the specific demands of off-road riding. The XC90 employs SHIMANO Dynalast technology to reduce braking loss and enhance pedaling efficiency. SHIMANO optimized the sole stiffness and gave it a 1.7mm lower profile (compared to the earlier M315 model) so that your leg drive transfer more directly to the pedal. Also, the spikes and blocks on the outsoles are arranged in an optimal dirt-shedding pattern to maximize performance on even the muddiest trails. The result is a dedicated XC shoe that lets you unleash your power to the fullest.

The shoes are developed in close cooperation with professional XC riders Eva Lechner, Maja Wloszczowska, Katarina Nash and Fabian Giger. In 2014 they, and other professional XC riders, will ride the XC90 shoes to profit from the unique features of the completely new designed shoe.

MORE TRACTION, LESS MUD
The front section of the outsole is fitted with optimally shaped spikes and blocks, which are arranged in an ideal pattern to maximize traction. The open, mud-shedding tread pattern allows mud and debris to fall through, keeping the shoe and pedal light and power-efficient. Sole stiffness is optimized through a layered structure that offers the ideal rigidity for cross-country riding. The SH-XC90 features a carbon-composite midsole and, in the front section, a carbon-composite insert plate.

REPLACEABLE TOE SPIKES
Toe spikes can be swapped out according to the riding environment. On dry, solid rocks, use the resin type. When you need more traction – say, in muddy conditions or in loose sand or dirt – choose the metal-tipped XC spikes. The heel cup is integrated with the sole and fits the shape of the heel. It stabilizes the heel and holds your foot firmly in place.

REDESIGNED UPPER
Rovenica* — a strong, lightweight, and supple synthetic leather with outstanding durability and shape retentiveness — is used in SHIMANO high end shoe uppers. The XC90 is featured with SHIMANO’s Custom-Fit technology for a perfect customized shape of the upper and a new Cross X Strap closing system. The Cross X strap is optimized for relieving tension on top of foot during push off motion. SHIMANO did this by relocating the strap’s fastening section to the side of the shoe.

A pair of the XC90 shoes weigh 627g (size 40) and is best matched with the PD-M980 pedal.
