- The new DEORE XT M8100 series includes innovative features such as the MICRO SPLINE sprocket cassette with 10-45T or 10-51T tooth development, 1x12 or 2x12 HOLLOWTECH II crankset, powerful 2-piston and 4-piston brakes, shifters Adjustable ISPEC-EV, 12-speed rear derailleur and high-speed derailleur, ICE TECHNOLOGIES FREEZA fast-cooling rotors and complete wheel sets for XC or Enduro, all adjusted to the needs of today´s mountain bikers.
- Crankset: The new DEORE XT 1x12 crankset features HOLLOWTECH II arms with integrated lower shaft and hollow arm. The plates come with Dynamic Chain Engagement profile, whose narrow / wide teeth are key to better chain retention and facilitate a smoother and quieter transmission. For a safe assembly of the plate, the connecting rod has a Direct Mount system that simplifies the change. The cranks have 28T, 30T, 34T and 36T plate options, are interchangeable with the XTR and SLX plates and have arm length options of 165mm, 175mm and 180mm. The DEORE XT cranks are available in three chain lines:
- 52 mm (FC-M8100-1) for 142 mm or 148 mm OLD, providing the narrowest Q factor of 172 mm.
55 mm (FC-M8120-1) for an OLD of 148 mm for wider tires and greater distance to the frame (Q factor, 178 mm).
- 56.5mm (FC-M8130-1) for an OLD of 157 mm and and a larger Q factor of 181 mm.
Connecting rod weight: FC-M8100-1: 620 g, FC-M8120-1: 628 g, FC-M8130-1: 636 g (all 32T; 175 mm, without bottom bracket).
- The DEORE XT 2x12 HOLLOWTECH II 36-26T crankset offers the best range when combined with the 10-45T cassette, maximizing the possibilities on all types of terrain while maintaining short walking steps for consistent cadence.
- Two sets of 2x cranks are available, both with a two screw anchoring system to secure the left side arm in place on the shaft. The FC-M8100-2 set features 142 mm OLD for 48.8 mm chain lines and 172 mm Q factor. FC-M8120-B2 cranks have 148 mm OLDs for 51.8 mm chain lines and 178 mm Q factor.
- The weight of the FC-M8120-B2 (36-26T, 175 mm, without bottom bracket) is 672 g and for the FC-M8100-2 36-26T, 175 mm, without bottom bracket) is 654 g.

Plate for more demanding routes, with hard ramps and unevenness. Original brand, so without any problem in the assembly. Recommended for those who want to "go down" from plant, because there is no lack of development, unless they are false flats in descent, with some descent, and giving it pedals.

Typical Shimano XT quality, not much to complain about. Very high quality manufacturing, and appearance. With the steel chainwheel, it will likely last forever. Weight is 115g for my 32T version.
