The first try on what excruciating (used them on MTB / touring shoes) though once they were on, they stayed warm and comfy. They're much easier to pull off those slimmer roadbike shoes though! They kept my feet 100% dry and warm. Even better: I tried them on a wet ride with my white Shimano worn under and they really had not a speck of dirt on them - unlike everything else on me and my bike;)
